Internship Opportunities

Interested graduate and undergraduate internship candidates must formally apply and interview with Coleman Professional Services.  Applicants will be required to provide three references, complete a criminal background check and if selected, an orientation process.  Training will be provided.  All internships are unpaid.  Hours are flexible and can vary depending upon the internship site and the student's internship/volunteer requirements and needs.

Autism Spectrum Social Skills Group Assistant

Experienced students interested in assisting with Coleman’s Teen Autism Spectrum Social Skills Group are encouraged to apply for an internship as a group assistant.  Group Assistants will assist the leading psychologist by modeling positive social behavior to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Groups will take place on Monday evenings in Ravenna.

 

Case Management Internship

Students interested in learning more about mental illness and the important role Case Management plays in the lives of those working on recovery will be interested in a Case Management Internship.  With this unique opportunity, students learn more about Individual Service Plans, the completion of proper notes and documentation while experiencing direct contact with clients with mental illness.  Opportunities are available in Portage and Medina Counties.

 

Confirmation Specialist

Upbeat, organized, positive student who is interested in assisting psychiatrists, psychologists and counselors is needed to confirm client appointments via telephone.  Students will learn more about individuals with mental illness while assisting administrative staff.  

 

 Donor Research Assistant 

The Coleman Foundation, a philanthropic organization designed to support individuals facing mental health and rehabilitation challenges, has an opening for a mature, focused student who's interested in learning more about nonprofit fundraising.  The selected intern will be responsible for conducting fundraising donor/prospect research to identify potential sources.  An active member of the Foundation team, the intern will help support fundraising operations and will proactively identify new gift prospects.   This Kent opportunity will provide an amazing learning experience in preparation for a career in nonprofit management, fundraising or communications.   

   

Employment Services Internship

Interested in a future career in employment services? Gain experience assisting people with disabilities in career selection and placement.  Intern with our dedicated staff of job coaches, developers and Certified Rehabilitation Counselors.  Make a difference in the lives of Portage residents while you reconnect consumers with their life hopes, goals and dreams!  

 

Grant Writing Internship

Coleman Professional Services is seeking a grant writing intern to assist the grants department with researching and identifying potential funding sources.  The selected candidate will draft and edit proposals for completeness, accuracy and clarity.  Proposals will be submitted to potential funding sources.  Interested applicants should submit their resume and a sample of their writing to the Volunteer Coordinator.

 

 Medical Assisting Internship

Are you ready to put your knowledge to work in a busy medical facility?  Consider an externship/internship with Coleman Behavioral Health.  Assist the staff of professionals in our downtown Canton location while earning credit toward your degree.

 

Medical Records Internship

Learn about the importance of proper record keeping, confidentiality and HIPAA rules and regulations in the fast-paced medical records department at Coleman Professional Services.  Opportunities are available in Canton, Ravenna and Kent.

 

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Internship

Options Community Support and Recovery Program places a high value on providing clients with mental illness opportunities to participate in reintegration through education, support and skill building.  Interns in the Options Program will work directly with clients and will also have the opportunity to assist staff with programming and creative ideas.  This opportunity will allow students to incorporate their studies with Coleman life experience in the psychology, sociology and conflict management fields.  The Options program is located in Ravenna.

 

Residential Internship

Internship opportunities are available in Coleman Professional Services' Residential Programs.  Qualified candidates will spend time working directly with clients serviced by CPS in a group home setting.  Spend time playing games, creating crafts and having fun!  This weekend and evening-only Kent, Windham or Edinburg opportunity will provide interested students with an in-depth view into the lives of individuals with mental illness. 

 

Senior Companion/Elder Care Internship

Coleman Adult Day Services is a daytime, community-based program for older adults whose quality of life may be affected by isolation, physical or mental limitation, medical conditions, or memory loss. Adult Day provides interns with a hands-on learning experience in the medical assisting, gerontology, psychology, sociology or integrated health fields.  Selected volunteers will have the opportunity to spend one on one time working with consumers in our Ravenna facility.  Interns are also encouraged to assist our staff in programming and creative activities.
